Which Spring trends will you embrace this year?

Which Spring trends will you embrace this year?

I know, I know, there’s a giant snow storm outside. But I don’t care, I am SOOOOO ready for Spring.

I took a look at my post on Spring trends from last year, and I definitely wore and loved all the trends I chatted about. Let’s see if the same is true for this year!

Here are the 2016 trends I’m excited about and my top picks for each.

1- Off the Shoulder Tops
This is my favourite trend by far. Nothing wrong with showing off a little collarbone (don’t forget to highlight it so it pops even more!) and with everyone cutting their hair into lobs (long bobs), this trend is perfect for shoulder grazing hair. I have a lot of favourites (I mentioned two here) and here is another one I love, and this one too!

2- Bold Stripes
I’m a stripes girl, through and through. Half my closet is stripes, so I’m excited that designers are all over this pattern. I love the nautical feel of it all, and it works well with all the monochromatic colours in my wardrobe. I like this sweater, this dress (you can buy it in Ottawa here) and also this top.

3- White Sneakers
I think I’m a little behind on this trend, and now that I’ve noticed it, it’s everywhere. Every model is rocking these shoes as their off-duty look, and I’m so happy that comfortable footwear is trendy, won’t complain about that! I love this pair, this one, and also this one.

4-Raw Hem Jeans
I love seeing how designers change up jean designs each year to keep them fresh and interesting. The raw hem is perfect to wear with espadrilles, sandals, and pretty much any summer shoe. It’s effortless, and has a fun beachy feel. I bought this pair already, and love this one, as well as this one.

5-Romantic Floral
I think my closet this year will be filled with stripes and florals, that’s it! Not only do these two patterns work well together, floral dresses are so romantic and perfect for summer dates nights. I am already dreaming of my warm-weather trips coming up, so I can wear pieces like this, this and this.

I’m calling it, Spring 2016 is gonna be the BEST!

Happy shopping.

Sorry I haven’t been posting more often, I’m trying to come up with new ideas for you guys! If you want me to write about anything specific, leave me a note in the comments below!

These are a few things I’ve picked up recently. So many things are on SUPER SALE, which I why I had to share it it you!

1- Joe Fresh Haul
OMG I love the sales at Joe at the end of each season. I’ve picked up so many great pieces at ridiculously low prices. I encourage you to check out your local store (or shop online, but beware, everything on clearance is final sale) and look through the sale racks, you’re sure to find some awesome stuff. I picked up the SOFTEST boyfriend plaid shirt (go one size up), the coziest turtleneck (I also sized up on this one) and the cutest après-ski shirt (should have sized up!). I also got a pair of black booties for $29, ridiculous.

2- Drugstore Haul
I am so happy that brands like L’Oreal and Maybelline are making products that can compete with high-end brands. I picked up a few essentials, including the new BB Cushion Foundation from L’Oreal, which, so far, is a great option when I don’t want or need full coverage. This NYX lip primer has been amazing at preventing my lipstick from bleeding (anyone else have this problem?) and I picked up a darker colour of my favourite concealer which I will use to contour!

3-Winners Finds
I have some fun trips planned to warmer destinations, so I was very happy to see that Winners is stocked with great swimwear right now (they also got big shipments of Nike golf clothes, if anyone is interested!). I picked up this great one-piece from BCBG for under $40. Is it just me or are one-pieces making a huge comeback? I’m not complaining!

4- The perfect chambray shirt?
I’ve seen this top on so many people now and I NEED ONE IN MY LIFE. But I really want to find the perfect one, that’s the right length and super soft, and not too wrinkly….Is that too much to ask? These are my top 3 contenders right now, from Old Navy, J.Crew and Nordstrom.

Happy shopping!

Friday Favourites!

Friday Favourites!

Happy Friday! Are you as bummed as me that cold, rainy weather has finally arrived? I’m sure the snow is just around the corner…

Here are some fun things to cheer us up!

1- A great event happening tomorrow is a fashion show by Alfred & Co., Ottawa’s best designer consignment store. So grab your friends, head over to Santé Restaurant (across from the Rideau Centre) at noon and check out some great outfits that will also be for sale. Details here.

2- I’m preparing a blog post about my favourite beauty hacks that I use all the time, and there will be a fun contest associated to it, so stay tuned for that!

3- I just bought this sweater, it’s the BEST oversized comfy turtleneck I’ve found this season. And don’t bother looking for an XS, it seems they are sold out everywhere. I got a  small and it’s big but in a good way 😉

4- I will be testing this hack that apparently keeps your pantyhose from running. I’ll let you know if it works!

Happy weekend!

My 10 Essential Items for Fall

My 10 Essential Items for Fall

I’ve talked before on how I’m streamlining my closet and investing in key pieces that I love. After a massive wardrobe cleanout, it was time to go shopping and pick up some goodies! Here is my list of 10 essentials items I think you should have for fall. I’ve also included my favourite pieces for each category, and nothing is over $100! Just click on the pictures for details.

Black Leggings
Let me be more specific here: A dressier pair of THICK, OPAQUE leggings, preferably in a ponte fabric, vs. cotton.

White Tee
Again, not your basic cotton tee. A tee made with viscose will automatically look fancier and keep its shape. A round or boat neckline is a great option vs. the more casual v-neck look.

Black or Dark Jeans
I have both dark blue and black jeans, because it’s what I wear most, and I recommend a nice slim leg pair with very little distressing.

Chunky Turtleneck
Turtlenecks are huge this season and oh-so-cozy. A great option is the sleeveless tunic turtleneck, it’s great to layer under a jacket without all the bulk of the sleeves.

“Leather” Jacket
A perfectly fitted leather jacket or blazer is a must for the fall, it literally goes with everything and add the perfect amount of edginess to any look.

Black Booties
Tall boots are not for everyone, they can be quite bulky, so the low cut bootie is the perfect item for fall.  They look great with dresses, skirts, pants, pretty much anything in your closet.

Nude Flats
I’m still looking for the perfect pair, but until we have snow, I think a nude flat is a great piece for fall, and works with all sorts of colours. They basically disappear so the focus can be on the rest of your outfit.

Long Sweater/Cardigan
Again, nothing is more cozy than a long sweater, and they are just getting longer and longer this season, and I’m not complaining. You need extra length when you are wearing leggings, over dresses that might be a bit too short, and just to stay warm.

Long-Sleeved Dress
Wether it’s a tight-fitting cotton midi or an incredibly flattering swing dress, this is the perfect piece to add to your closet. It can basically be dressed up or down for every occasion.

Blanket Scarf
Get a head start on winter gear with this incredibly versatile piece. There are so many ways to wear this piece, including as a belted poncho, which I love.
