I’ve talked before on how I’m streamlining my closet and investing in key pieces that I love. After a massive wardrobe cleanout, it was time to go shopping and pick up some goodies! Here is my list of 10 essentials items I think you should have for fall. I’ve also included my favourite pieces for each category, and nothing is over $100! Just click on the pictures for details.
Let me be more specific here: A dressier pair of THICK, OPAQUE leggings, preferably in a ponte fabric, vs. cotton.
Again, not your basic cotton tee. A tee made with viscose will automatically look fancier and keep its shape. A round or boat neckline is a great option vs. the more casual v-neck look.
Black or Dark Jeans
I have both dark blue and black jeans, because it’s what I wear most, and I recommend a nice slim leg pair with very little distressing.
Turtlenecks are huge this season and oh-so-cozy. A great option is the sleeveless tunic turtleneck, it’s great to layer under a jacket without all the bulk of the sleeves.
A perfectly fitted leather jacket or blazer is a must for the fall, it literally goes with everything and add the perfect amount of edginess to any look.
Tall boots are not for everyone, they can be quite bulky, so the low cut bootie is the perfect item for fall. They look great with dresses, skirts, pants, pretty much anything in your closet.
I’m still looking for the perfect pair, but until we have snow, I think a nude flat is a great piece for fall, and works with all sorts of colours. They basically disappear so the focus can be on the rest of your outfit.
Again, nothing is more cozy than a long sweater, and they are just getting longer and longer this season, and I’m not complaining. You need extra length when you are wearing leggings, over dresses that might be a bit too short, and just to stay warm.
Wether it’s a tight-fitting cotton midi or an incredibly flattering swing dress, this is the perfect piece to add to your closet. It can basically be dressed up or down for every occasion.
Get a head start on winter gear with this incredibly versatile piece. There are so many ways to wear this piece, including as a belted poncho, which I love.
So there you have it, my top 10 fall essentials! Let me know in the comments below what items you can’t live without these days!
