As I mentioned, Alfred & Co. has setup shop in Little Italy for the week (check out yesterday’s post for details), so I’ve had the chance to check out what this great neighbourhood has to offer. It was hard to pick just 5 spots, so I encourage to come visit this part of town on a nice sunny day!
1. Morning Owl Coffee (538 Rochester St.)
I was told by many people to try this little coffee shop and I’m so glad I did. Not only is the coffee top notch, their selection of sandwiches (made with Art Is In bread!) and salads make the perfect lunch and make sure you spoil yourself and try their pastries (made in-house!). I had one bite of their Ritz bar and I was addicted! Apparently their donuts are ridiculously good, I can’t wait to try those next!
2. Flapjack’s Pancake Shack (354a Preston St.)
Don’t rush to this restaurant because it’s not open yet! But I’m just too excited not to include it on this list. Described as “Canadian All Day Breakfast & Campfire Cuisine”, you can be certain that this will be an incredibly popular spot in Little Italy! If you just can’t wait to try their famous buttermilk stacks, check out their food truck in the Glebe (in the courtyard behind Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s)
3. Vincent (444 Preston St.)
When I travel, I always wander the city’s best streets hoping to find a boutique like Vincent. So it’s incredibly exciting that we have such a great shopping destination in Little Italy. I think the brands they carry speak to how beautifully curated the selection of fashion found in this store truly is. And not only are the owners incredibly helpful and charming from the moment you walk in, but their personal style will inspire you to elevate your own fashion game!
4. Full Bloom (492 Rochester St.)
Whether you are looking for the best florist in the city for your wedding or event, or simply for the most beautifully arranged bouquet for your home, I encourage you to visit Full Bloom and meet Erin, owner, designer, and simply the most talented woman I know. What I love most is that she is sharing her talent and love of flowers through in-house classes (all the details here!). And for even more convenience (and since Mother’s Day is right around the corner), you can order her beautiful arrangements online.
5. Two Six Ate (268 Preston St.)
Here are some simple instructions on how to enjoy this restaurant to its fullest: 1. Sit Down 2. Order Chicken Confit Poutine 3. Thank Me Later. Actually, you can order pretty much anything on this incredibly fun menu and you’ll be happy. It’s just that good. Even better, do all this on a Sunday and you’ll get live music, half price draught and half price bottles of wine!
Hope this encourages you to visit Little Italy this summer!
